About Us
The concept of NCSC-National Consortium of Stroke Coordinators was to establish a network for mutual and professional support among Stroke Coordinators. Something each felt they were lacking in their current position as Stroke Coordinator. Started back in May of 2006, a group of twelve Stroke Coordinators from North Carolina met to discuss the idea of starting an organization.
This unique group has formalized into a National organization with a mission to advance acute stroke management through the standardization of care, and to provide opportunities to share information and resources related to stroke program development and proficiency across the continuum of stroke care. We were immediately met with great enthusiasm and support from other stroke agencies, some of whom have since become “partner members” with us.
We do not know exactly what the future holds for us, but we do hope to reach out to many Stroke Coordinators around the country and help them with the mutual struggles that we all face at one time or another in our roles as Stroke Coordinators. Our Mentor program will, most likely, be the backbone of our organization as we pair expert with novice, and move forward toward standardization of care and best practice for our stroke patients. We hope that Stroke Coordinators will continue to find value in our organization. We invite you to join us, especially if you have expertise to share with the inexperienced among us.
